Nebraska allows most foods to be sold, including many kinds of perishable foods and all non-perishable foods. Non-perishable foods can be shipped and perishable foods can only be picked up in person or travel up 2 hours for delivery. Fermented foods and meat jerkies are still not allowed to be sold.
Labels must include business address, business name, and a note that your product was made in an uninspected kitchen. If selling in person, your products should be accompanied by a sign that says, “This food was prepared in a kitchen that is not subject to regulation and inspection by the regulatory authority and may contain allergens.”
There is no limit to how much a home-based vendor can sell in Nebraska.
All sales must be directly to your customers and within the state of Nebraska. If selling from a venue that is not a farmers market, you must take a food safety course and register your business.
